How To Make Your Own Oracle Cards

In the past, I have used tarot and other divination tools for guidance in my life. As a child, I would ask questions using my grandmother’s tarot deck.

How To Make Your Own Oracle Cards

She had many decks that she passed on to me over the years. I was always fascinated by them. They were beautiful objects with intricate artwork and detailed symbolism.

I remember asking her about the meaning behind each card. How could I use this information to help guide my life?

As I grew older, I began to explore more deeply into the world of divination. I learned how to do readings using runes, crystals, pendulums, tea leaves, and even coffee grounds!

Each tool has its own unique way of providing insight. Some are easier than others and some work better for certain types of people.

Over time, I became interested in creating my own divinity tools. I wanted something that felt authentic to me.

Something that I could hold in my hand and feel connected to. So, I have documented ways for you to create your own oracle cards too. Read on to find out more.

What Are Oracle Cards?

An Oracle Card is a small piece of paper that contains symbols and messages from the universe.

The message can be interpreted as guidance, inspiration, advice, or answers to questions. It can also provide insight into what is going on in our lives at any given moment.

Oracle Cards are not just for fortune-telling. You can use them for personal growth, self-discovery, healing, and much more.

Creating your own oracle cards is easy. All it takes is a bit of creativity and imagination. There are many methods to choose from.

Options For Making Your Oracle

You can either print your own or purchase pre-made ones. If you want to make your own, here are some options.

You can select from a variety of materials to make your oracle cards. The choice is up to you. Here are a few options that you may want to consider.

Wooden Deck: These are great if you want to keep it simple. You can get blank wooden decks at most craft stores. If you prefer a more rustic look, you can also paint them yourself.

Paper Decks: These are great if all you need is a quick answer to a question. You can buy pre-printed decks online or at your local bookstore.

Cards: This is probably the easiest option. You can purchase blank cards at any store that sells stationery supplies.

You can then write directly onto the back of the card with your pen. Or, you can print off templates online and cut them out.

Why Create Your Own Oracle Deck?

Why Create Your Own Oracle Deck

Creating your own oracle cards allows you to connect to the universe in a deeper way. It helps you become aware of what is going on around you.

It gives you the ability to tap into your intuition. And, it provides an opportunity to be creative. There is no right or wrong way to create these tools. Do whatever feels right for you.

If you decide to go ahead and create your own oracle deck, here are a few things to consider before you begin.

1. Choose A Theme

Choose a theme that speaks to you. Maybe you want to focus on love, money, career, relationships, spirituality, etc. Whatever topic you pick will affect the outcome of your oracle.

2. Select A Card Template

There are several templates available online. Pick one that works best for you. You can download templates from websites like Etsy and Pinterest. Or, you can just print off a template and cut it out.

3. Start Writing

Once you have selected a theme and created a template, start writing. Write down everything that comes to mind when you think of the theme. Don’t worry about grammar or spelling. Just let it flow.

4. Add Color

Once you have written down everything that comes to your mind, add color to the cards. Use markers, pens, crayons, colored pencils, watercolors, acrylic paints, etc.

Anything goes as long as it makes sense to you.

5. Finish Up

When you are done adding color and writing, finish up by cutting out your template. Then, fold the paper so that it looks nice and neat.

6. Seal Them Up

Seal the edges of your cards with tape or glue. Make sure they are sealed well because you don’t want anything falling out!

7. Store Them Safely

Keep your oracle cards somewhere safe where they won’t be damaged. They should be stored flat against each other. Otherwise, they might fall apart.

Adapting An Oracle System

You can use an existing tarot system or adapt one of your own. For example, you could use the Rider-Waite-Smith system.

In this case, you would simply change the pictures to match your own. Or, you could use a system based on numerology.

Here, you would assign numbers to each card. The number represents the energy associated with that specific card.

You could also use a method similar to the I Ching. In this case, there are 64 hexagrams. Each hexagram has a meaning.

You would select a hexagram and follow its instructions. You get to decide which system to adapt or whether you want to create an entirely new one for yourself.

Selling Your Own Oracle Card Deck

You can sell your own oracle cards through Amazon, eBay, Etsy, and other sites. Some people even sell their oracle cards at craft fairs.

Set your price based on how much time and effort you put into creating your cards.

For example, if you spent 10 hours making your cards, set your price accordingly. If you only spend 5 minutes, set your price lower. The sky’s the limit!

Conclusion

Creating your own oracle cards is fun and easy. It takes very little time and requires minimal resources.

Plus, you get to pick the exact colors and design you want. So, what are you waiting for? Go ahead and give it a try!
